The Mercedes G63 AMG was on display at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show although it was very much overshadowed by news of the new and most extreme road legal SUV to be produced.
Set to be a Limited Edition car, the Mercedes G63 AMG 6x6 can only be described as almighty. It will be made by Mercedes-Benz and their Austrian partner Magna Steyr with the first few units leaving the factory around now. The enormous double-cab pickup will be luxurious with a leather interior for the more affluent clientele. It features six wheel drive, low range gearing, five differential locks and a tyre control system for its 37-inch wheels. Pricing have not been announced, but the head of Mercedes-Benz G-class development, Axel Harries said it might be the second most expensive model, leading us to believe it will be around the £350,000 mark.
The G65 is also on its way to further extend the G-Class range. It will have a 6-litre V12 bi-turbo to delivers 612 horsepower. This enables it to do a top speed of 142 mph (electronically limited) making it the most powerful 4x4 in the world and at a similar power level to the Ferrari 458 Italia or the Lamborghini Gallardo. The new G63 AMG outperforms its predecessor, the G55 AMG, by 44 hp. As in the G 63 it has an AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC automatic transmissions.
This G65 model also gets the full two-tone quilted soft leather as well as carbon-fibre and new specification options. Both the vehicles will have new design language interiors. Revamped bumpers and tail pipes are expected. There will also be a new braking system on the 2013 G Classes.
