A pre-season holiday at Italy’s Madonna di Campiglio ski resort set the scene for the annual go-kart race between the Scuderia Ferrari drivers and the Ducati Team riders. Fernando Alonso’s double win on the ice was marked with a fireworks display to salute the Scuderia F1 driver. This is the perfect way to get the teams ready for the upcoming season with some intense rivalry on the slippery conditions.
The Ferrari FF was used as a safety car before the karts were released. In the first race the two F1 drivers Felipe Massa & Alonso started on the front row. Alonso quickly span and was forced to the back of the grid, but soon found his way back to the front to win the race. He also went on to win the second race in tremendous style.
Earlier in the day, the Ferrari men took part in the traditional ski race, where winner in the drivers’ category was Giancarlo Fisichella who finished ahead of Felipe and Dudu Massa.
You may remember that last year Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa test drove the Ferrari FF at the same event. The FF was unveiled at the 2011 Geneva motor show and was built as a more usable family style Ferrari. Its all-wheel-drive system makes it perfect for these conditions.
Last year the two F1 Ferrari drivers hit the slopes of the snow-capped mountains in Italy in a pair of Ferrari FF’s for an unusual parallel slalom race. The ice driving experience was made possible by the integral 4WD traction system that deals with the constantly changing and variable amount of torque on each wheel independently, with fully integrated electronic control systems.
Let’s see if Alonso and Massa can carry on with the winning ways to secure another Scuderia team victory in the 2013 FIA Formula One season.
