AMG Boss Ola Kaellenius announced at the 2010 LA motor show that the company would launch two very special cars. One has been seen, and we all know it as the stunning C63 AMG Coupe Black Series. The second was subject to much speculation although now pictures and reports are starting to emerge of the second car planned for launch by the Mercedes tuning division - It is the Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series.
This super car which was inspired by the original Gullwing model is intended to be the firmer, nimbler, quicker version of the SLS… could this be the most extreme Black Series variant to date?
Many press agencies are quoted as saying it may have the naturally aspirated 6.2-litre V8 engine. This would not make it the most powerful AMG Mercedes currently on the market as this is now held by the SL65 AMG Black Series that has a 6.0 V12, although it could be the most collectable AMG produced.
These pictures show that the biggest changes appear to be in the bodywork, with wider front and rear wings. You could expect upgraded brakes, and bigger wheels, new bumpers, and three large intakes to force air into the power V8 Mercedes AMG engine.
Although not confirmed, it is believed that power should go up from 563bhp to over 600bhp, as well as the extensive amount of Carbonfibre bodywork to cut weight. With all of this extreme power it is probable that a roll cage would be offered as an option or standard kit.
No one knows for sure, but you could expect this new machine to cost in the region of £300,000.
