As we’ve already reported, Ferrari will launch a replacement for the 599 GTB at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. To coincide with the replacement of the 599 Road Car, Ferrari will do the same with the 599XX Track Car. But to give this hypercar the proper send-off it deserves, Ferrari have marked the end of its production with the most extreme Ferrari 599 ever built, the all new 599XX Evolution. The 599XX is already know as the most extreme sports car ever built by Ferrari, although the new 2012 Evolution offers less weight and even more speed.
Unveiled at the Bologna Motor Show in Italy, the new 599XX Evolution’s package consists of aerodynamic advancements, increase in power and is only available to clients who take part in the track based research and development program for the New Year’s seasons.
The new powerhouse is a 6.3L V12 engine, with an extra 50 HP. This power increase brings the 599XX’s total power up to 750 HP, which is very impressive taking into account the fact that there is a weight reduction of 77 lbs compared to the standard model.
There are improved chassis dynamics that have been implemented with the cars all new electronic control systems. The large rear wing is an active wing with two flaps, similar to the Formula One car, which rotate electronically to adjust the downforce between the front and rear axles.
Like the Ferrari Formula One car, the 599XX Evolution has new Pirelli tires to continue the working relationship between the two companies in both Formula and sports car racing.
The 599XX Evolution’s price is not yet confirmed, although according to Italian press agencies; buyers will have to pay about £1 million for the privilege to own and race the new car in the 2012 and 2013 season.
