Ferrari have left it some 50 years to produce a new series production V12 spider, the last being the iconic 365 GTS 4, now we have the mighty 812 GTS. Ferrari did produce some limited editions, the 550 Barchetta in 2000, 575 Superamerica in 2005, the SA Aperta in 2010 and the F60 in 2014 to celebrate 60 years of the American market. Like its predecessors the 812 GTS sets new benchmarks, its 800 cv V12 engine makes this the most powerful series production spider on the market at the moment but also the most versatile according to Ferrari. Its retractable hard top (RHT) opens in just 14 seconds at speeds of up to 45 km/h and does not compromise the interior dimensions, therefore keeping the car’s roomy cockpit. The electric rear screen acts as a wind-stop and makes the car truly useable with the top down while, with the top up, it can be left open to allow occupants to take in the sound of its naturally-aspirated V12’s unique soundtrack.
On the GTS version of the 812 Superfast, the entire rear of the car has been redesigned. The idea was to lend the car a new blend of sleekness and balance, thanks to two buttresses beneath which the roof movement mechanism is stowed. The buttresses were designed to visually embody a sense of forward thrust and lend the side windows a signature look that would set the spider apart from the berlinetta.
This car has been meticulously spec’d by the first owner in the highly desirable combination of Grigio Silverstone with Nero Daytona racing seats with seat lifter and contrast silver stitching. Extensive carbon fibre has been used including, front bumper inserts, rear bumper sides, rear diffuser, underdoor cover, inner door handle, central bridge, upper tunnel trim, driver zone with led’s, dashboard inserts, front spoiler and finally the wheel cups. The car also is equipped with a suspension lifter, Gallio Modena brake callipers, black ceramic exhaust pipes, “Scuderia Ferrari” shields, parking camera, passenger display, 20” forged painted rims, aluminium rev counter and titanium wheel bolts.
