Aston Martin commissioned a special series of 40 named and numbered editions of the V8 Vantage to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Aston Martin victories at Le Mans in the World Sportscar championship. The V8 Vantage Le Mans were available with either a 550 or 600 bhp twin supercharged 5.3 litre engine. One of the distinctive features included an extended front spoiler which was designed to create positive down force as an aid to high speed efficiency.
Additional and enlarged cooling ducts were incorporated into the bonnet, bumper and front wings to aid the aerodynamics and performance. Aston Martin offered the customers an infinite choice of colours and Connolly hides, including Almond Green, the distinctive colour of David Brown’s world famous “works” racing team.
The car we have on offer is number 7 of the 40 produced and was shown at the 1999 Earls Court Motor Show. It is finished off in Aston Racing Green with Saddle Tan hides and Alcantara inserts and comes complete with all its original hand books, a glovebox mounted torch and a Michelin road map with a highlighted route to Le Mans from Newport Pagnell.
This car has been lovingly cherished by its 4 owners and maintained by Aston Martin works. It’s condition is indistinguishable from new and has only covered 24,500 miles. The Vantage Le Mans is a highly prized and rare car, a scintillating drive and a true collectors Aston Martin.
