The Ferrari 250GT SWB is undeniably one of the most iconic Ferrari's of all time. Originally designed with racing in mind, the 250GT SWB signifies the last Ferrari that was made as a road car that with little or sometimes no modification could be raced successfully at events such as the Le Mans 24 Hours. The 250GT SWB (the 250 referring to its individual cylinder capacity, the SWB to the 200mm that was cut from the previous TDF to shorten the wheelbase), represented the end of an era for Ferrari.
Ferrari produced 176 250GT SWB's between 1959 and 1963 in both steel and aluminium bodies. This car is one of just fourteen right hand drive's produced and the first RHD to leave the factory in 1962. The combination of Dark Blue with Black leather is a stunning mix and also benefits from another first, it was the very first car to come with the dashboard paint to match the exterior paint.
This 250GT SWB was shipped to America from the factory by Luigi Chinetti, the New York based Ferrari representative, he then shipped it to Otto Zipper in California, USA where it was bought by John Von Neuman.
